Daniel Garmon

Rhythmic Subversion

Faint harmony descends all too slowly
while my sensory perception provides
a tattered shred of

Hope walks forward, pausing with each step
craning her slender neck to hear
to absorb what she hopes to be the whistling melody
which cannot penetrate her mind in

Time lingers at an agonizing pace
I wonder how such catastrophe
could rip my indestructible progression in

Half of the fault is hers
she knows better than to alter
a structure comprised of chords
Dangerous as it may be
the subtle beauty of dissonance
causes her to wander toward

Eternity is lost, like a single note
shrouded in rich musical tones
for each agonizing pace seems to strike
another pitch, another familiar frequency
bringing me closer and closer to her faint

Harmony
