Emily Kase

Barely There

I lie in the snow
In the midst of chaos
Helplessly moaning
Numb to the pain

Disoriented in the hospital
Groggy, consuming memories
White walls and
Blood in my hair

He lies like a baby
Vulnerable and unaware
Feeble motions barely there
A life on the edge

The world as a dream
He slowly recovers
Never the same
No longer the carefree child
Running across the back-yard
