Welcome Back

The day he is supposed to return
I receive a phone call.
He couldn’t because he had a stroke.
I am left on a chair crying.
My mom embraces me in her arms.
Dad is stuck in a hospital in Taiwan.
As two weeks go by, I wait.
Thanksgiving Day I step on a plane.
I am going to see my dad for the first time
in a month.
In Taiwan, I cherish the moments with him.
I encourage him on his recovery.
Dad and I laugh and cry.
One more week and, he comes home.
We can finally be together.
We can finally celebrate.
One more day until, I can say “Good Morning.”
I can’t wait until I can give him a hug.
I can’t wait until we can be a family again.
