Spring Tryouts

Many boys grasp their gloves, balls, and passion
Baseball tryouts has engulfed them in nerves
Many boys fancying off their fashion
Lunging for plays and firing their curves
Many men converse and scrawl down their notes
Each player’s eyes wander to the papers
Curiously wondering if they choked
All of the boys whisper to their neighbors
The boys stagger home with a silent night
Sun rises and wakes the boys with no joy
The boys straggle nervously with all might
The men know they have chosen the best boys
They look closely at their players again
All the boys they pick have turned into men
