“A Toast”

Ladies and Gentlemen: I’d like to make a toast
Here’s to the things that I enjoy the most…

Here’s to the things we take for granted
A roof over our heads
Being well-fed
The security of coming home to a warm comfy bed

A simple hello
A sincere wave or smile
The friendly little gestures
That make everyday worthwhile

Here’s to falling in love
For the very first time
Hugging, kissing, cuddling
Hearts intertwined

Candle lit dinners
Romantic moonlight strolls
Popping the question
The sound of wedding bells toll

Here’s to swings, sunsets, and summer
Chillin’ poolside
Sipping on strawberry smoothies
And screaming on carnival rides

Bonfires, beaches, sand between my toes
Those crazy summer nights where anything goes
Roasting marshmallows and making smores
The sound of ocean waves crashing upon shore

Here’s to music
Concerts, live bands, favorite songs
Losing your voice the next day
From singing along

Jammin’ out to playlists on my ipod
Those who can’t hear must think I’m odd
Rock, pop, jazz, blues
Here’s to whatever puts you in the mood

Here’s to the random pleasures in life
Like singing in the shower
Or dancing in the rain
Gazing at clouds from the window of a plane

Wishing on stars
Driving fast in cars
Clear blue skies
And a big bag of fries

Here’s to real friends
The ones you can always count on
Who’ll have your back without a doubt
When the rest of the world seems to walk out

The suitcase of memories
Priceless photographs
Reminiscing inside jokes
And nights of endless laughs

Here’s to you and I
Enjoying our lives
Drinking up the world and its pleasures
One sip at a time

Cheers.
