The Race

Sweat drops
Legs shake in the starting blocks
Fingers tremble

Stomach in a knot
Legs shoot forward
Arms pump like a train

One hurdle down, I've got a shot
Legs float over
Tip Toes lunge the body forward

Three hurdles down, two more, not a lot
Legs ache but heart races
First place never felt so good

Last hurdle for the pot
Legs give out
Face hits the ground inches before finish

Get up!
Legs are too weak
