First Snow

"Look! It's snowing!"
Peering out the window,
behind excited classmates.
Swoosh,
the light wind gently blowing,
the lints into spirals.
Slowly falling,
like feathers dropping from the frosty clouds.
Glistening,
like sparkling stars in the night sky.
Sprinkles upon earth,
like a cheerful blessing.
Covering bright colors to pure white,
like an eraser correcting a picture.
Melting on tongues,
just as cotton candy.
Sinking in colorful knits,
moistening fabrics.
The light flakes avoid playful fights
by refusing to form spheres.
Such beauty and peace.
