Missing Him

little room shrouded in
light and shadows
little girl and the window

my eyes look across to
the soft
ocean waves and

orca blue sky
of the endless sea to
order the tides and they move

back and forth
with pebbles and glass
carrying me in the undertow

in my bed and on my windowsill
in my mind
intertwined and my dad hiding bottles

in the next room
the TV on while my brother
stares but I’m still without much

comfort knowing I
can’t say a word or tell about
crying for no reason and missing him
